Salvation is the issue that I will be deal with now. Many believers in Jesus Christ have fallen away and fallen asleep spiritually speaking. The Church has become satisfied with no authority or a reverence for a Holy God. The Church has allowed sin to invade the House of the Lord and has abused the mercy and grace of God.
Through the mindset of increase, prosperity and submissiveness to the practices, and convictions of the world, we have allowed ourselves to become immune to the convictions of the Holy Spirit. We have ministers who stand in the pulpits who refuse to preach against the sin that is in the church and in the lives of the congregants.
Abominations are allowed and encouraged to be accepted and practiced in the house of the Lord. The truth of God’s Word has been hidden and replaced by a self motivating message that will not shine the spotlight exposing sin and unrighteousness.
Christianity in America has become a broken branch that has fallen away from the tree of Life.
John 15:5-6 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
The Church, the Body of Christ is to be abiding in Jesus Christ. The word abiding means to be enduring, remaining, surviving. We are to be taking a permanent position, steadfast with an unshakable faith in Jesus Christ. Many of today’s modern Christians have taken the on the characteristics of the foolish virgins, that Jesus spoke about in Matthew chapter 25, in the parable of the Ten Virgins.
1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
They all had lamps and, I interpret that as at one point they had accepted the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior and made Him the Lord of their lives. Millions of people, who will claim to be Christians, fill the church houses all across America, Sunday morning, Sunday evening, Wednesday evening and in most cases when the doors are open.
We are supposed to be attending church and fellowshipping with the saints as much as possible. When we come to the house of God and fellowship with other believers we can share testimonies and encourage, each other in the faith. Jesus said that five were wise and five were foolish. There are those who call themselves believers in Jesus Christ but are nothing more than country club members.
When we ask the Lord Jesus to be our savior and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, I believe that we are given a spiritual light, the light of Christ. This light is like a lamp that the virgins had and they were preparing for an event. Christians have a hope for a life that is eternal. It is a journey that awaits us. Jesus said that He had to go away to prepare a place for us, and that He would come again to take us with him, to be with Him forever.
All of the virgins took their lamps with them but five of the virgins took only their lamps and not a vessel of extra oil. Oil represents the Holy Spirit of God. This Holy Spirit of God is a gift that is given by the Lord freely to aid us in our walk here on earth. The oil, the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin He reminds us of the Lords Word. He guides us in discernment, and directs our path to the ways of the Lord.
The Holy Spirit of the Lord is our oil that keeps our flame, the Light of Jesus Christ shining bright in our lives. It is the power of the Almighty displayed in mankind to guide the lost who walk in darkness to see the light of hope. It is a testimony of our faith and witness of the truth.
These five foolish virgins are like so many that are attending the churches today. They have been given a light, a lamp, a free gift from the Lord, but they have not carried an extra vessel of oil to sustain them on their journey.
They have taken advantage of the Lord. They have chosen foolishly to walk in their own ways. All though they attend church like a believer, and they have the appearance like a believer. They give money to support the things of God but inwardly their light is fading away.
They lose their reverence for the Lord. They have become non-believers. Oh sure they believe in who Jesus Christ was and all of the stories in the Word of God, but they become just old stories after awhile and they really don’t apply to the now in our lives.
They fall away, and the truth becomes skewed in their minds. The concern for the true ways of the Lord becomes blocked out by the entertainment that the flesh finds to be more real, and exciting. Jesus becomes an old friend from the past that we knew as a kid but now as an adult attending church and acknowledging the ways of the Lord are no longer genuine to these foolish virgins.
Church has just become an activity, or just thing to do, but the light has gone out and the evidence that you have fallen away shows in the way you live your life.
The five wise virgins carried an extra vessel of oil. These virgins represent the true believers in Jesus Christ, those who will stand on the foundations of the truth. They are believers in what the Word of God teaches, and they apply it to their lives daily.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We cannot call ourselves believers and followers of Jesus Christ if we are constantly abiding in the ways of the world. We are accountable for our actions. We are representatives of Jesus Christ. If we allow sin to rule and rain in our life, it will be exposed and it will bring shame to the Lord’s name.
There was a cry and the declaration was that the bride groom was coming. There will be signs of the coming of the Lord, at an unexpected hour. The foolish virgins asked the wise for some of their oil, but this isn’t something that can be given freely. I cannot give you my relationship with the Lord. You must walk the walk yourself.
I don’t have the power to save and neither does anyone who is a believer, but it is only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that you can retain salvation.
Acts 8:18-23 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
That is the condition of many that claim to be followers of Jesus Christ. Sin has you in bondage and you are bitter and trapped by your lust of the flesh. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We no longer should want to take part in the ways of this world.
Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The latest fashions, the latest music, and movies, everything that the world says is okay is not okay! God clearly states the truth in His Word!
1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
That is not an option for Christianity! It is a requirement declared by the Lord! The hour is coming to us all that in the Lords return or through death, time will run out. The time to choose to really live for the Lord or to continue in our sin.
Time will run out.
The thing’s that you allow your eye’s to see, and the things that you allow your ears to hear, and the things that you allow yourself to wear. They are all evidence against you, and fro many they are the reasons that you will not be ready when the Bride groom comes.
You will then stand outside the door and knock, and you will here the words I know you not. Just as an old friend from the past that you haven’t seen for years, you know of him, and who he was from the past but you cannot say you know him at the present, if there has not been communication! When you choose to not seek the Lord in prayer, and to read His Word, you’re choosing to not communicate with Him, and you become strangers to each other.
Your time is running out.
Does the Lord know you?
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
